Monte Barro Arte Natura, competition for artists, 1,500 euros up for grabs

Monte Barro Arte Natura is a competition for artists dedicated to the homonymous mountain complex in Lombardy.

The initiative rewards the first 3 artistic projects classified with 1,500 euros and a weekend for 2 people.

To participate, there is time until June 30, 2022. Here is the announcement and how to register for the competition.

COMPETITION FOR ARTISTS MONTE BARRO ARTE NATURA

The Barro Cultural District presents the fourth edition of the Monte Barro Arte Natura artistic competition. This is a competition of ideas aimed at creating an artistic work for the Monte Barro Regional Park.

The contest is open to all artists and invites them to present works in natural material, which know how to enhance the relationship between man and nature within the naturalistic, cultural and archaeological context in which they are inserted.

Participation in the competition is completely free.

RECIPIENTS

Specifically, the Monte Barro Natura competition is open to adult artists of all kinds and nationalities. The contest is aimed in particular at environmental artists, designers, artists working in public art, artistic and multidisciplinary collectives. In case of collective participation, a group leader must be identified. Collectives can also be composed of people who are experts in different disciplines.

ALLOWED PROJECTS

Each competitor, who presents himself individually or in a group, may submit only one project proposal. Each project must consist of a maximum of 3 rigid boards in A3 format, with a weight equal to or greater than 500 g / m2. The representation technique is free, while it is mandatory to indicate the size of the work, which may occupy a maximum area of ​​12 m2.

SELECTIONS

The competing works will be selected by a Jury composed of the following members:

Elisabetta Bianchessi, President of the Jury;
Lorenzo Paolo Messina, Critic;
Stefano Caimi, Artist;
Representatives of the Barro Cultural District, the Travel People Association and the Monte Barro Park Authority.

AWARDS

The Monte Barro Arte Natura competition will award the first 3 classified projects. The winner will receive a prize of 1,500 euros, while those who finish in second and third place will win a weekend for two at the Monte Barro Hostel.

In addition, all participating projects will be exhibited in an exhibition organized at the exhibition hall of the Tourist – Cultural Center of the Hermitage of Monte Barro, or in an equivalent space in the associated municipalities.

ORGANIZING BODY

The Barro Cultural District is an association of local authorities committed to the development of the “Barro Montagna delle Genti” project, in which art represents an instrument of social cohesion. The Mountain Community of Eastern Lario – Valle San Martino, the Monte Barro Park, the Genti in Viaggio association and the municipalities of Civate, Galbiate, Garlate, Lecco, Malgrate, Monte Marenzo, Olginate, Valgreghentino all join. The symbol of the association is Monte Barro, overlooking the lakes of Como, Garlate and the Briantei lakes and home to a Regional Park in which Michelangelo Pistoletto’s work Terzo Paradiso is installed.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Those interested in the Monte Barro Arte Natura competition can register by sending the documents, drawn up anonymously, to the Monte Barro Arte_Natura Competition – Fourth Edition – Municipality of Garlate c / o Secretariat Via Statale 497, 23852 Garlate Lc, according to the methods described in the Notice that we make available below.

There is no registration fee.

The delivery of materials and applications for registration to the contest can be made no later than 30 June 2022 (1 pm).
